This year, around 55 people were arrested in Istanbul as they were trying to join in the Gay Pride which was unlawfully banned by the Istanbul Governorship. 3 of them are still detained.
Hello dear friends and comrades 🙂
I write to you from Bakirkoy Women’s Prison. I wish we were side by side, talking excitedly about how we managed to go ahead with the Gay Pride in spite of the offensive politics that have been applied in the name of “The Year of Family”. However, our march was banned as a part of these offensive politics and we were arrested. These arrests, these walls won’t prevent us from being side by side, of course. We have no doubt our struggle will continue whether from we’re inside, or outside.
We were arrested and detained as we were on our way to the march. But as we said, each step we take is filled with “pride” 🙂 I embrace you all lovingly.

Hello proud companions. The ones who sought the failure of this year’s Istanbul Gay Pride have arrested us. They don’t know that the rainbow’s resistance knows no bounds and cannot be contained by walls. We are happy and proud to be part of this honorable march. They can call it the year of the family, or anything else they want but they cannot prevent our rebellion. I send you all embraces full of love.
